Retinoic acid, also known as Tretinoin or Vitamin A Acid, which is the metabolic intermediate of vitamin A in the body. It is yellow to orange powder. It smells like vitamin methylacetate. It is easily soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, chloroform and dichloromethane, as well as vegetable oil and fat. It is unstable when exposed to light and heat, absorbs moisture in the air, and deteriorates when aggregated with water.
